The JR West Kansai Area Pass: 5-Day Ticket lets you build a rail itinerary around Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Himeji. Use selected JR West routes to move between these destinations and visit historical landmarks, with five consecutive days of travel covered by one pass.

Five days of unlimited rail travel

The pass includes unlimited train rides within its specified coverage areas, along with access to a route map. The five-day validity runs consecutively, so the travel period forms a single block rather than separate days spread across a longer stay. That makes the pass a practical basis for planning a sequence of rail journeys through Kansai. Use the route map to identify covered connections as you shape your itinerary around the places you want to visit.

Train services you can use

Travel on rapid, special rapid and local trains on selected JR West routes. The pass also covers reserved seating on eligible limited express trains and travel on the Sanyo Shinkansen within the covered area. These service types give you several rail options for your journeys, but coverage remains tied to the pass’s specified routes. Reserved-seat access applies to eligible limited express services, rather than every train operating in the region.

Routes and transport outside the pass

The pass does not cover the Tokaido Shinkansen route between Shin-Osaka and Tokyo, the Sanyo Shinkansen between Okayama and Hakata, or the Kyushu Shinkansen between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo. Expressway buses are also excluded. These boundaries matter when planning onward journeys: the included Sanyo Shinkansen travel does not extend to the excluded Okayama–Hakata stretch, and the pass is not coverage for all bullet-train routes in Japan.
