Additional Information & Description
The JR West Kansai Area Pass gives you unlimited rides within its designated travel area for three consecutive days. Use it to build a rail-based visit around Kansai’s cities and historic sights, with the freedom to make multiple journeys during the pass period rather than limit your plans to a single return trip.
Three days on JR West trains
The pass covers JR West local, rapid and special rapid trains on applicable routes. Its three-day validity runs consecutively, so the travel days form one continuous period rather than three separate dates. Coverage applies to specific areas shown on the route map, not the entire rail network; that distinction matters when planning journeys beyond the regional routes.
City stops, temples and waterfront sights
Travel between Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe to explore urban areas alongside temples, gardens, palaces, shrines and regional architecture. Nara brings two distinct stops into reach: Tōdai-ji Temple and the deer in Nara Park. Kobe’s harbor adds a waterfront destination to the itinerary. These destinations give the pass a practical role beyond transport within Osaka, connecting several different kinds of sightseeing across the region.
HARUKA airport express included
The Kansai-Airport Express HARUKA is included in the applicable transportation. That gives the pass an airport-rail component alongside its regional train coverage, allowing a HARUKA journey to form part of the same consecutive travel period.
Services outside the pass
Shinkansen bullet trains are excluded, as are limited express tickets other than HARUKA and reserved or non-reserved seats on other express services. For the limited express Thunderbird to Tsuruga, you need a separate limited express ticket; its surcharge is not covered by this pass.
Digital ticket and Osaka location
The pass uses QR code entry, supports smartphone tickets and comes with instant ticket delivery. Osaka Train Tickets is located at 1-chōme-1-2 Shibata, Kita Ward, Osaka, 530-0012, Japan.
