Additional Information & Description

Mount Fuji and Hakone in one day

Mount Fuji & Hakone: Guided Day Tour from Tokyo combines the spring-fed ponds of Oshino Hakkai, Hakone’s volcanic landscape and a Lake Ashi cruise, then returns you to Tokyo by bullet train. The day lasts approximately 11 hours, with a live guide and several stops before the final rail journey.

The first visit is Oshino Hakkai, a traditional village at the base of Mount Fuji. Its eight ponds contain clear, spring-fed water. This stop puts the focus on the landscape at the mountain’s foot before the route continues into Hakone.

Above the valleys and onto Lake Ashi

The Hakone Ropeway takes you over valleys and geothermal terrain towards Owakudani. This volcanic valley formed after a past eruption of Mount Hakone; steam vents and hot springs reveal the area’s geothermal activity. The elevated journey gives you a different perspective from the village stop earlier in the day.

At Owakudani, you can try the local black eggs, a specialty known for its symbolic significance. They are an optional purchase at your own expense, rather than part of the tour price.

The route then moves onto Lake Ashi for a cruise aboard either the Grand Tea Ceremony vessel or Sorakaze. Mountain views frame this part of the journey, and the lake provides another chance to see Mount Fuji.

Shrine and castle stops

Hakone Shrine adds a lakeside stop to the itinerary. Its notable red torii gate stands partly in the water, making the relationship between the shrine and the lake a central feature of the visit.

You also tour the reconstructed Odawara Castle to explore local historical architecture. The castle shifts the day’s focus from ponds, volcanic terrain and mountain scenery to the area’s built history.
