The JR Sapporo-Noboribetsu Area Pass gives you a rail-based route through Hokkaido, linking Sapporo, Otaru and Noboribetsu. Build a trip around several stops rather than a single destination, using the rail network to move between the cities within the pass’s designated area.

Hot springs and food along the route

Noboribetsu’s well-known hot springs give you a reason to step away from city sightseeing for a soak. Otaru brings a different focus: sushi and sweets are among its culinary offerings. These stops add distinct experiences to a journey centred on Sapporo, with time away from the train devoted to bathing and tasting local food rather than simply travelling from station to station.

Four consecutive days of rail travel

The pass includes unlimited rides within the designated Sapporo-Noboribetsu area for four consecutive days. Travel on JR Hokkaido limited express, rapid and local trains, with both reserved and non-reserved seating included in ordinary cars. That coverage lets you use different train services during the same trip; the validity period runs across consecutive days, rather than four separate days chosen throughout a longer stay.

Transport outside the pass

JR Hokkaido buses, streetcars and subways are excluded. Any journey using those forms of transport falls outside the included rail coverage, even when it forms part of your visit to a covered city.
